the shaft that comes up from the lower unit, attaches right into the crankshaft, in stock form.
so once i removed the upper unit (power drive). i cut that portion of the crankshaft off that the shaft went into. about 2''.
then i welded that piece into a couple i found at Tractor Supply.
the Briggs motor comes with a key-way on the shaft, and so did the coupler.
it really went pretty simple.
all my mounting plates and stand-offs i made out of wood first for templates, then made it all out od steel.
aluminum would be my first choice, but had the steel and had to see if it would all work first.
i really believe it would work fine using 7ply plywood.
