This engine has the easy shift. You can shift it with 1 finger when the shift cable is disconnected.

Ok, while you are playing try this one. Put it in forward with cable disconnected, engage the shifter into forward and do the same alignment check with pin to hole.

Does it feel like you hit a log with the lower part of the motor? Check your lower unit oil. Check for metal shavings. Had the same thng happen to my Johnson. Would be going down the lake and all of a sudden the motor would act like it hit a submerged log or rock and lift up. Could go another week or so and nothing happen, than same thing happen again. The dog gear finally went and lower unit seized up. Had to replace lower gears.

Next time Cray. Had to put it back together because of rough waters and we are going home for a few days.

Dealer changed lower unit oil and made no mention of any type damage.

Went out early this morning. No problems. Covered all scenarios ( I could recall). Ghost turd problem I guess.

Only difference was that I had an extra passenger yesterday. What a difference a day makes.

I am sure this problem will return sooner or later.

Thanks for the help and all the info.

    Check rpm when it happens.

    Sounds like hitting the limiter
