Should not be a problem . I have seen similar compartments done on pod seating on a war eagle .
Wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone has ever attempted this or is it something I should not even mess with. I would definitely have to find someone with the tools and know-how for it to be done but wanted to get feedback on pro's and con's of doing it. In a nutshell, I would like to cut a compartment(s) into the front deck of my War Eagle 1648 LDV to add a battery/batteries...marked with the red rectangles. This would at least give me some additional weight up front for planing off and free up space in the back in case I wanted to add another small battery for depth finder.
I do know this portion of the boat is filled with foam sheets because mine has a small plastic plate (black circle in pic) that can be unscrewed and I removed it to look about adding additional seat pedestals. I ended up opting for a Add-a-seat system because of the foam and inability to reach my hand under to tighten bolts.
Anyway....I guess this snow and the winter blues have officially set in for me so I keep thinking of things I would like to do or worse, things I need to buy!! Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated.

I think it would work good.
I think it would work good. Cabelas has drop in boxes with locking lids that are waterproof that might be just the ticket for you.
Mark them out and cut them with an angle grinder and a 1/16 cutoff plate. Then cut out the foam, use a little silicone, drop the box in and screw it down with stainless screws.
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
Make sure these boxes are deep enough for the batteries BUT NOT TOO DEEP!!! If it's taller than the top deck..your screwed! My old Triton 1650 DS had lots of storage under the front deck...It's great. Make sure the box lids will support walking on etc...Measure and plan 5X before cutting...You only get one chance for it to work! black lids would look good and thing about resale value down the road!

Also.... How nose heavy are you gonna b with 2 guys up front pushing if that's what you do sometimes....Batteries mid boat may be better for stability and safety!
I'd buy 2 80lb bags of crete and put em up there with ya'll and see how she feels!!!

Thanks everyone. I think I have opted to stay away from this "project" for now. I guess its just the winter blues putting ideas in my head non stop!! One thing I didn't even do before I asked the question was measure the height of the deck to see if it would even allow for a battery. Boat works just fine as is, so I think its best to leave well enough alone for now.......at least until the next snow storm!!
Went a week before season ended....on the tail end of frozen woods for 5 days....did ok...we killed 45-50 for 4 days...only one morning in timber was lights out...next day...same spot....ducks acted totally different!....hard to hit the timing right when it's 9 hrs to camp!
