    Default Yamaha impeller

I bought a little 2008 4 stroke 20hp yamaha and want to change the impeller. There are video's on line that make it look pretty easy but when I called the dealer for parts he says "kit" but the video only shows the impeller being replaced. Is there more that should be done than just swapping out the impeller? Thanks for any help.

Usually just the impeller needs replacing. However sometimes the housing the impeller turns in needs to be replaced or maybe you have a bad O ring etc. But you won't know until you get it apart. So if you are in a hurry to get it done get the kit or take the chance you won't need anything else.

I have a Yamaha ProV 150 2 stroke and change the impeller every couple years. If you get the whole kit the first time you do it you'll have all the parts you need for the future. this time you may only need the impeller but the next time you may need to replace an o ring or a gasket and you'll have the parts, so i would get the kit and a couple impellers and you'll be good to go for a few years...

Thanks for the help, I might as well get a kit the first time anyway.
