I always put a new impeller in and change the lower unit lube when I get a new to me motor. Its not worth burning up your motor for a $15 part and a 1 hour job. Check out videos on YouTube if you are uncertain how to change one.
How can I tell if the water pump is working proper does this motor spit a lot of water while running or just a little like mine does. Or if I put in water and run how hot should it be I would think just warm. New to this motor.

Not familiar with those motors but would think a decent stream out P hole. Remove cowl and disconnect hose from P tube then run a small wire through it to make sure it is clean and run on muffs with hose disconnected to check flow out hose. Any water coming out exhaust bypass should be warm but not extremely hot. Temp should go up and down some if thermostats are working properly. Like Rip said, on a new to you motor replacing pump is cheap insurance even if you have to pay to have it done.

Thanks I'll take a look, I have replaced on old johnsons but never owned a force are they similar?
I could not find a video on the motor I have, but it dos not look like this motor streams out water all that much, like other brands do, thanks very much for the reply's I may pick up a service manual and do it myself.
