Thread: Fix For MotorGuide Wireless trolling motors!!!!!!!!! Save 300.00$

Hey guys. just wanted to pass this along.. i have a motorguide wireless series trolling motor and was on the water about a month ago, pulling cranks. went to make my big swing and nothing... kept on going staright. i could hear the motor activating when i would push the button, but it wouldnt engage to turn left or right. took it home, took it apart. called a t/m repair shop about 3 hours away, told them what was going on, they said 300.00 for a new transmission. i said no thanks. went to looking around the motor and found that the motor that turns the prop left or right has a little plastic gear on the end of it about the dia. of a dime and about3/8 thick. it was stripped on the shaft. so i took my die grinder,and ground an X in the shaft and gear together. cleaned everything real nice, some epoxy,dry over night. and im still running it. no problems. ha, wonder how many has had to replace the trans on one just because of a little .25 plastic gear. thought i would pass this on... if its broke, go ahead and tear it apart and see if you can figure something out. guess what.. if you brake it. it was already broke to begin with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
