Lightbulb Alumacraft 160 fisherman tiller ???????????????????????

So you have one and can give me the pros of the boat. I have a polar kraft and a war eagle jon type. I am interested in this boat for flood control reservoirs and fishing elderly folks look in for a safe boat with this floorplan. Thanks, HOOK

I'm looking at basically the same boat. Alumacraft Classic 160 tiller. I like the open floor plan and choose the Classic because of the built in gas tank, 35 gallon livewell, deep-V, 82" wide beam, no raised casting decks, 5 people (1295 pounds), and a 25hp should push it just fine. Very few boats fit that description. Most of the lakes I fish are reservoirs in the 700 acre range with HP restrictions. However being a deep-v, I have no fear of taking it out on bigger bodies of water. Took my old '67 14' Alumacraft to Kentucky Lake last year and it handled the waves no problem. Granted we did get wet a few times, but we were cool with that. It was the hottest week of the year. My 14'er is only a 48" beam. The Classic is 82" beam, almost 3' wider than my boat.

I was interested in a 160 Fisherman, until I went to look at one. I don't know how long this particular boat had been at this dealer, but it had dings and dents all over it. Then I looked up the hull thickness, it's only .065/.070 (sides/bottom).

warhawk, where was this beat up boat and was it new? All aluminum will dent eventually! the hull thickness is fine for fishing, duck hunting with a mud motor would want .102 minimum. These boats are for lake fishing for a easier tow for us poor folks! Hanr3 where have you started pricing the boat, as a alumacraft package or in seperate purchases. My alumacraft dealer only sell mercury engines and I was looking at a Yamaha or use a 25 I already could hand on one.

Oh yea forgot to mention I have 14ft. polarkraft from olive branch ms. that has over 30 years of service and the transom is just now worn out. boat made thousands of runs on Sardis, Enid and Grenada lakes mostly running trot lines less than .65 thickness. I think the boat is plenty thick enough and I will have full insurance coverage and a PFD.

This boat was brand new, didn't even have a motor mounted yet.

Keep in mind that Tracker aluminum boats have a .100 thick hull.
