2006 Optimax 75 hp flushing problem
My 75hp Merc O-max has a garden-hose adapter for flushing. It is under the cowling. I screwed it to my garden hose...turned it on...and nothin happens..I see a very small amount of water trickling from the water exit hole. It is definately not taking in water....the little black rubber hose from the motor to the hose adapter swelled up to twice its diameter. I can flush it using a pair of muffs and it is taking water and expelling water as it should.
I did run this thing up in some shallow water and did suck a bunch of heavy mucky silt up in it...(I know...DUMBbanghead) and since then it alarms....see my previous post http://www.crappie.com/crappie/mecha...ing-alarm.html
Any help appreciate...I was hoping to keep from having to pull this thing to the shop!

From your description I would say that you have debris in your water passages/impeller/t-stat. Did you replace your impeller after you took in a bunch of mud? If not, definately do so before you run it again and toast your Optimax and replace the thermostats and back flush the cooling system while you're there and have the t-stats off of the outboard.
