Ok, if it is within specks guess you are ok. I just have never seen a merc with that low of psi. If you get the boat out with the adjustment that you made and it is still not right. I would call mark croxton @ marks props. He has been reworking new props for the cobra from the day cobra came on the market. located in shelbyville In. He is your prop man for answers

Hey man, I appreciate all the help and time you have put into these to threads of mine. Thats why this site is such a nice place.

I told the guy at mercury that it sounded low to but he said it was fine and when I explained that my uncle had a 3.0 litre 225 with a new impeller and it was almost identical in pressure he said that those specific motors are just low pressure motors and that some of the mercs especially the older ones had a safe number of 5-6 psi pressure and that was the numbers to go by.

Once again thanks, I wont be able to test this stuff out till prolly sunday but I will give everyone and update and once again thank you all for your responses!!

Another person you might track down is Ken, sorry I don't remember his last name and I cant find his phone #..In 07 he was wanting to buy the molds that I had. Anyway he built the cobra for a few years in WI and just recently sold to another company. He went by Mercury Pro or Mercury 201 Pro (something like that) over at bbc. You might do a name search over there, I'm sure he would be of help to you for the prop also.
Ken bought 1 or 2 molds at the cobra auction(I don't remember what models) and the others went to shoal water in TX, and then burned in the fire in 07. So yes cobra is still being built today.

Why couldn't ya install lower water pick-ups on the engine or a Bobs nose cone and raise the engine back up to retain your performance yet keep the water pressure up?
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

K guys, got to go to the water after finding what I thought was my problem and it wasnt..... It didnt even help for 50rpms. So, with that being said I had a new prop show up which was a 23 pitch (I was running 5300 rpms today with 3 people on boat with the 25 pitch tempest that was already on boat! Yuck!) so I figured id pop it on and try it out. Well it did bring the rpms up 5700 but still has no low end power (boggy) and still has trouble pushing its self up onto the trailer, AND THE SPEED OF THE BOAT WAS NO DIFFERENT. When trying to get on trailer, I mash the hot foot and it comes up to about 2,200rpm and starts bogging. I wouldnt call it bogging but just holds at about 2200rpms.

I will go ahead and get ahold of Ken Simonsen I guess. I just don't know what to do from here....

Ive come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with this motor.

I have one last suggestion. I had a merc that would not come up on plane and had no power to get on the trailer. My partner had to get on the front deck to get it to come up on pad and then it would run fine. It would sound fine even with the dino hooked up to it at the marina. About drove them nuts because everything showed ok with the electronics. Come to find out it was a week coil and would only act up when under load on the water. Take it to the marina and check the coils and the switch boxes. I hope its not anything electrical. The coils are not that expensive however the switch boxes are salty.
