Default Upgrading from Mercury to Yamaha

I am in process of preparing to upgrade the motor on my 2010 Lund A-14 from a Mercury to a Yamaha. Just to make a long story short,...my reason for doing so is the Mercury just hasn't been the motor I hoped it would be in terms of reliability,so I am making the move to Yamaha for higher quality and far better reliability. Not only am I upgrading in terms of better quality and reliability,I am
upgrading in features such as electric starting,...among other features the Mercury did not offer. My history and experience with Mercury Marine has not been all good,...mostly frustration and disappointment in what I hoped would be a good brand. With Yamaha's reputation for dependability and reliability,I see alot more fishing time ahead, rather than the boat sitting and not being used.
I feel very strongly that I will be able to trust Yamaha! Enough said!

Mercury and Yamaha both make good engines but sometimes we just get one that seems to be a little more troublesome than others. I've ran Yamahas since 1995 and although they haven't been completely trouble free I feel I have gotten good service from them. The one time I did need warranty work for a blown power head Yamaha took very good care of me. I never had a seconds trouble out of that motor afterward. Now I'm running a four stroke and have about 50 hours on it thus far with no issues. Hope your new engine serves you well.

Optipop? That's a good one! LOL!!!! Wonder if they're still having trouble with the Optimax motors popping,...or have they corrected that yet? Either way,it's not going to matter to me since I am
switching to Yamaha,...and yes,it is a good move on my part! Now,...let's go fishing!

Going to a Yamaha Motor is a Great move. I'm pretty confident you will have No regrets about it.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

What size Mercury do you have???
I had a Yamaha once,,, I said once,, 25hp,, ran like a dream,,,as long as you cleaned the carburetor. could not leave gas in it at all.it would gum up. started running the fuel out every time it came out of the water,,, did not have any more problems. And that was before ethonal and 4 stroke. Went back black, and never looked back,,
Hope you have good luck with your new motor

15 HP four stroke! Just have never been happy with Mercury at all,...period! Two two stroke motors and then the four stroke,...all lemons as far as I am concerned. Used a good grade fuel, oil(manufacturer's oil in
fact) and kept it tuned up as best I could,...still had problems. Mercury just didn't like me,I guess! Even used fuel stabilizer to keep fuel fresh all year round.

There won't be ANY regrets about it at all,...I'm confident Yamaha will be the best move I have ever made in my boating career! I will take the boat out every chance I get with that Yamaha motor on the transom! I have two large
reservoirs within an hour's drive of Bluffton,In.(Salamonie and Mississinewa,...the two I fish most often!),so the new Yamaha will get plenty of run time!

    Default Isn't it funny

How some people swear by one motor and hate others. And the hated motor is LOVED by someone else. Optimax engines are wonderful. They all have good and bad.
