the only problem with spray on liner is the added weight.
Hey fellas,
I mostly fish in the South La. Atchafalaya basin swamp. This is a far cry from a clean, clear reservoir.I would prefer carpet, but thinking about going spray liner because of the low maintenance.I'd like some input from you'll....

what kind of boat is this
MO Slab,
I might not be the one to add my 3¢ (inflation) as i have an old, old fiberglass boat without carpet or the spray on liner.
Having said that I have never seen carpet in a fishing boat on the coast.
Boatman44 brings up the question of weight of the spray on liner - but how much does the carpet weigh in a whole boat? -especially when it gets wet like here in So. La.?
If the weight of the spray on liner is less than the carpet and the spray on liner doesn't absorb water and stay wet, then the only considerations I would think should be 1) Cost, 2) Quietness and 3) time boat is out of commission for installation of either, now and at time of the re-carpeting in the future.
Let us know which way you jump and why you made your decision (for future readers).

I have a boat with the spray-in liner. It's ok but is noisy and hot to the touch, it's a light tan in color and I never gave it a thought about being that hot! Easy to take care of though a good hard rain makes her look like new.
I have a 15 ft Xpress duck boat that I hunt and fish out of. I kinda like the spray in liner that Xpress put in for me. I think it is alot quiter than just AL and it is heavier, but when carpet gets wet, it stays wet, and then later mildews and molds, and then creates a stinky mess, but it looks good.
The spray stuff does get hot in my boat, but it is also camo (dark), but it is not as hot as the bare AL.
Hope this helps.

I have marine vinyl in both of my boats and love it.

I saw lots of options, my boat has carpet in the fishing area and the rest is fiberglass with a rough texture, it seem to work great so far.
