    Default Striped Crappie?

Wasn't able to get to my usual crappie river today but decided to try the body of water Im privaleged to live 200 from the nearest access. Had 2 hours to fish, and got on them thick. 13 in the boat, one break off, and at least 20 misses. For some reason they were hitting short a lot of the time.

    Nice,
I've talked to some of the bridge guys about fishing in January (from the bridge), just never done it. They tell me some days they get some big ones in there.
Wish I was closer to that area, I'm almost 3 hrs north.

Yeah, route 90 and 50 are hotspots. Water is very warm for January, low 50's. These are all resident fish with only an occasional keeper. Still lots of fun to catch and release. I would still rather be crappie fishing which drives my friends nuts, lol.

I remember staying my uncles on 5th st when I was a kid (70's)and my dad taking me out on the 50 bridge at night and you could see the sea trout under the bridge darting from the dark out into where the bridges lights shinned on the water . Best lure then was white bucktail with a purple worm best spot was by the west draw bridge gate southside.Big sharks would just swim hard enough to stay still against the tide rite along Buntings dock and the old angler headboat (the wooden one).

Ive seen guys in boats, mid day in August catching Stripers under the 50 bridge fishing soft plastic and bucktails. Not sure what keeps them there with that swift current and boat traffic but they seem to love it. I guess the rocks and structure of the bridge hold tons of baitfish.

Looks like a lot of fun Zippy.
I love night fishing off the Rt 50 bridge. I switched to using Gotcha lures there the past 15 years.
