When I first started crappie fishing, it was so simple; hooks in one shirt pocket, slip weights in the other, and some minnows. Now I have outgrown a tackle box and am going to plastic boxes and will store them in boat compartments. I've got to simplify soon.

Where did you store the minnows? Just kidding...

I saw a picture somewhere on this board last year that showed a "bracket" that had been built in a john boat that held about twenty plastic storage boxes.

The more space we have the more "stuff" we need for the trip and I am one of the worst...thus my nick name. I'm sure Gansett's original approach caught as many or more fish than I usually do...

Well I use the Plano type (not all that brand either) flat boxes for jigs and lots of other things. They don't take up a lot of room and you can keep several like I do. I have all my jig heads with bare hooks in one, another has all my small (1/16 and under) for hackle tail jigs and another for bigger jigs (1/8 & 1/4) hackle tail. Then 2 more with one of small marabou tails and one for bigger ones. I also have smaller ones for weights and lot of them. Some were to be for bass fishing, long skinny ones, Carolina style weights , you know the football shaped ones with a hole through it and drop shot weights. Then other kinds in other boxes. Oh almost forgot the hook box.

I have a good many more than I talked about here, LOL! Too much for sure, but doesn't most everyone have more than enough, LOL!

I keep what soft plastics in similar boxes or a good bit of it I keep in the bags they sell them in and put all of each kind in a shopping plastic bags like you get at Walmart.

Not every thing is in these, but most.

    soft sided bags

because i bank fish a lot so i carry separate ones according to where im fishing
when i fish the Ohio river near locks/dams i usually carry a small soft sided one
with a shoulder strap so my hands are free to move about because all the giant rocks are dangerous i fell down them once already face first didn't even have time to think and wham

i have another soft sided one i use when i hike into different areas like ponds or wade fish creeks

then i have another box i have loaded up with an assortment of hooks for carp and catfish different size and style of sinkers beads and scales even a little portable radio i use when i go catfishing so i can carry my rods and bait bucket easier

i would have to say that the biggest reason i use the bags are ease of use because the shoulder strap i have never had one break or the zipper rust or fail i use Plano
and the ones cabelas carry's the water proof ones they are dark green sorry i forget the name
is that a bite...YEAH FISH DONT HAVE HANDS

If you're bank fishing and carrying alot of gear, I like the softsided with a strap to help carry.

If you fish from a boat I like tackle boxes. They are easier to get to things and you just have to carry them to the boat.

I like the Plano 'Guide Series'. It's been the best hard tackle box I have ever purchaced. I keep all my crappie gear in it.

Caught so many fish today my thumb is sore from clicking the counter.

I've always had hard-side tackle boxes, but I just bought a soft-side bag that holds 6 boxes, 3 side pockets w/ zippers, 1 lined pouch for scented baits, & a shoulder strap.

I use two small double sided see through boxes with 4 sections on each side... carries 12 different colored tube jigs, and the 4 different colored 1/32 oz lead heads I use and then my bait pump, 2 crappie nibble jars, a stringer, a 3 pack of bobbers, a towel and a spool of line all go into a walmart bag. That's my tackle box.
