Just thought I'd let you all know I just bought a new bnm rod at Academy sports today. Wanted a jigging pole with more back bone. Got the Jim Duckworth float and fly rod. Feels like it should do the job pulling them little rascals out of the brush. I hope it is sensative enough to feel the light bites this time of year.

I fieldtested the Duckworth FnF rod for BnM (short handled one w/counter weight system) before they came on the market ... and have two of them, which I fish with on most every trip. They've got plenty enough backbone.

Being a "float" and fly setup ... their main purpose is not specifically to be "sensitive", since one would be watching the float, rather than trying to feel a tap :p ... although I have used them to cast jigs with, even shoot docks with I'm a line watcher, so sensitivity again isn't a priority
But, last time I did use one, I was bottom fishing a 1/16oz jighead with live minnow, in about 20ft of water, and experiencing some reluctant (soft) bites ... and the rod did transmit those ever so soft tugs ... so, yeah, it's probably sensitive enough to feel a cold Crappie mouthing a jig :D

I highly recommend starting with no shorter than a 12 ft rod for trolling! Got to get it away from the boat (shadowing) and TM (noise/movement). I use both BnM and WM trolling rods and I literally fish the heck out of them....they are fished hard 2-3 days a week but I do take care of them. I have never experienced any problems with the rods.....but, I have worn out more than a few spinning reels by WM, Diawa, Shimano, ect. I threw away a couple of WM spinning reels just a few days ago because the bail quit working and they just weren't worth getting repaired.

No Crappiepappy, the link was right.

Crappie Rods, Crappie Jigs, Catfish Rods, Baitcast Reel, Fishing Rods, Fishing Reels, Spinning Reels or Ozark Rods available at Grizzly Jig and other places. Both are way better than anything B & M has to offer. I don't know how you edited my post to reflect B & M but in the link definitely was not for B & M.

but, your 1st post specifically says : "Here's the link for bnm" ... then the link was to Pro Angler Rods, NOT BnM !! I changed the link to reflect the correct link to the company you mentioned. As Moderator of this board, I can change anything posted here ... I was just under the impression that you had posted the Pro Angler link, erroneously, since you referred to it as being a link to BnM.
You've edited the original link, back into your first post .... so, you might also want to correct the wording to reflect the actual brand being touted

    Default Funny thing to me

that BnM would buy Richard Williams' rod business and then quit marketing the very one that made them popular! I'm talking about the cork handle 10-2 with painted tips. Now only available with foam handle, and I just don't want a *^$#@%~ black foam handle on that rod!!!!!

I ask both BnM and Grizzly Jigs about this and I get these short (insulting) replies: "We don't have them". For crying out loud! What's it gonna take to get you guys to bring back this rod and 'can' some of those models you make? You KNOW they were popular!

I too am impressed with the response of Mr. jck Wells. I have four Richard Williams 10' and have had great luck with them, even catching some large cats - no problem. I purchased a 12' and the ceramic eye was out - contacted BnM and they replaced it without question. Just got a new Russ Baily model and looking forward to using it I would suggestyou purchase directly from the copany. The service is great, no middle person, and they ship their stuff out right away. I'm very satisfied with them

I've got 2 BnM Wally Marshal poles, an 8'er and a 10'er... i've experienced the ceramic falling out of the guide rings on both rods and a little frustrated the 10'er broke this past fall lifting a fish out of the water. Their just collecting dust in storage now.
While I commend him and think Mr. Wells tries his best to respond quickly and deal with their customers in a professional manner (better than most companies i've seen) i'd still rather spend a few extra bucks buying different brands and using them. I fish St.Croix now almost exclusively and can do most things with my 7'ers that I could do with those BnM poles... and the quality is much more noticeable. Just my opinions but don't let my experience sway anyone from making their own judgements.

Yes they are that good and no I'm not on their pro. staff Just a very satisfied customer I have had [ 4 ] 10' and [4] 12' BnMs for about 25 years and the only problems I have had has been operator error. I bought [4] 16' sts rods when they first came out and had some tip section problems that were not operator error and they replaced them with new sections and I have had no more problems. as soon as I can afford to I'm getting some of their new longer poles.
