Hire a guide and pay very close attention to where you are. Don't do this till after the spawn.

Just one little note about fishing others piles. Last year we had one guy shoot at another that thought he was fishing his pile and may others get really mad and want to fight. So take care fishing other peoples piles and a far as the guide thing. You must realize they work very hard putting out piles for their customers and this is how they make their living so tread carefully!

I put some of my own out and fish others already existing. I take note of where others are fishing on a body of water and can find a pile like that and dont feel a bit bad about fishing it if nobody is on it. Others do the same and I find them on mine at times. Its pretty hard to keep a secret when you are sittin out on the water stickin out like a sore thumb. I think if you keep it in perspective this should work, or it does for me anyway. You cant control how others feel but once the brush is in the water it has no ownership. From that point common sense and courtesy are the rule to my way of thinking. Good luck. I have an el cheapo unit and it will pick up any pile albeit I have to be right over more than those with wider angle transducers and side-scan. That marker buoy thing cannot be stressed enuf, I am never without. Good luck.

Dang, Skip. You better hope the natives settle down or you are gonna have to tie wearing kevlar man.

Like the others said keep your eyes on the graph and a marker bouy handy to toss.

One of the things I've noticed while working bush piles is that a lot of times I will see that the pile is in line with a fallen tree on shore or is inline with the edge of a ramp or dock edge or a couple of prominent rocks or any two outsatnding features. These are the things folks used before GPS's when planting brush.

I know it is a lot of work to fix and plant brush piles but I think this board out to be discourging the idea of ownership of any brush pile planted in public water that is not to be used by others is rather outlandish. Once that brush leaves the boat its public and first come first served.

One shouldn't be putting themselves at risk while fishing but if one is harmed or threated by others hopefully they will quickly retreat but for sure they should report the incident.

Yeah there are some crazy people in these woods. I use what I put out and any other community ones I see or find. I am not sure if I would do the same one major creek arm North of Six Mile where I am. That is where the guy took a shot last year and he was wrong the other guy had a pile close to where his was, LOL!

I also know of a guy that has more money than he knows what to do with I guess as he pays guys to put his piles out and they are usually huge. He gets really mad if someone is on his pile fishing and has confronted many because of that.

Oh and yes I would fish his if I find one.

There is probably parts of these woods one wouldn't want to be in.
