How do you longline? Is that the same as trolling?
I wore out the crappie yesterday on High Rock longlining and was just wondering how many of you guys use this technique year round? I really enjoyed it and would like to use it all year if I can. Thanks a bunch!

yup, it is a type of trolling. I used 1/16 oz. jigs on 6 lb. line and just made a long cast and fanned out the rods out the back of the boat and when the rod tip bends, you real him in. I know that speeds and jig weights change with conditions so I ws just wondering how well some people can adapt this to catch fish all year. I know speck chaser is a big longliner and he does pretty good with it. I like it, it is by far the funnest way I've found to catch 'em so far. see ya
I thought that might be what it meant...thanks for the explanation...
I longline year round with the exception of very cold days, then i go to tightlining brush.

I do allot of long line trolling on ledges in 8-12' . For shallow flats , I suspend the jig a few feet below a small round bobber , and just tie off on the bottom side of the bobber so it moves through the water good when trolling .

Rookie12, do you put a weight on the very end of your line, or simply put a 1/16 oz jig on an troll? How slow and deep do you troll with this type of presentation? How deep is the lake you fish?:D Thanks in advance!
I longline all year long, prespawn till spawn I will pull 1/8 or double rig 1/16 and troll a little faster, postspawn, I like to pull crankbaits and most of the time I will pull them all summer, and a little into fall, then I'm back to 1/8 roadrunners, and went it gets real cold and water temps drop into the low 40 I just slow back down and start useing the small bait again.
