I bury them all year except when no space in garden left to dig a hole . I fish all year here, fish is really great fertilizer .
So the pre-spawn/spawn always happens just about the time we plant gardens around here, so it seems there's always a pail of crappie carcasses available, might as well get the most out of them little critters. I planted the garden on Sunday and had almost enough fish to put under every plant. been doing it for years.
Makes them plants really jump in my opinion

I put the carcasses in a bucket, fill it with water and let it set overnight. Then I water my plants with it. Keeps the dog from digging up my plants.
The older I get the more I realize the therapeutic benefits of fishing

I like Sparty’s idea. Coons would dig everything up around here.

possums dig mine up
Feral cats are my concern. But yes I have done that and it works well. Just have to bury them over 12" deep so the cats don't dig them and your tomato plants up.
A good pellet rifle will stop that digging
