Yuck, Why would you do that to a crappie. Use one of those nasty fish you have down there like a redfish. Lol
I am looking forward to the video. I can use a good laugh.

Why scale them ? Will the skin not peel off after being in the smoker?

Anyway to blow the scales off over the canal? No mess.
There is a basket you can put fish in then tow beside boat and it removes scales while towing slowly. Seems easy enough.

Good question. Dono, just less mess when you eat them, and smoke gets better access. Not really sure, I did try it with the scales on once and did not like how it turned out.
And Mr. Adams, I love smoked fish, plus just doing something a little different other than frying in grease.
And "D", scaling over the grass ain't bad, the mess comes with the flying scales and water all over ME!

I am beginning to think you are developing a problem with smoking that stuff bro , just saying
rehabilitation centers do not seem to exist for this issue , do not let it wreck your life ....

Probably do well splitting them just like smoked mullet is done. I had a friend years ago that would smoke any species he caught. I never ate anything he smoked that wasn’t good. Good topic, thanks Slab.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
There is a YouTub video showing a guy using a power washer to scale his fish. I use a Curry Comb designed for horses and it works the charm.
Smoked fish makes for a great dip you know.
Maybe they will bite this one……
