Back together and ready for another go. Hope I remember the lesson this time. I do amaze myself sometimes, I did that 3 double ipas in lol. Works AND no parts left over!

PSA. Don’t haul your Daiwa Sealine linecounters with the drag backed completely off. Allows slack in the drivetrain, and the anti-reverse pawl will slip behind the drive gear and turn backwards, inop. Not a lot of fun to fix.

Great job getting it back together an getting a refresher course the hard way!
Why I run Shakespeare ats 15s, I screw one up throw it in the scrap pile and buy another for $27. The scrap pile hasn't seen the 1st reel yet, but it's bound to happen. I do think I lost a rod with an ats reel all in one go, a 12' PST rod went to a watery grave.. I vaguely remember the reel how much of a loss that was.
Good way to get familiar with the inter workings of your reels though! Been guilty of drag related incidents myself several times..

I guess IPA's are good for something after all. I'm a Guiness Extra Stout fan myself. But either way I don't think I would have wanted to tackle that job. Tiny things in tight spaces make my hair hurt.

Certainly doesn't sound like much fun

6 of my 14 new Diawa Accudepth reels did the same thing. Sent them back under warranty. No problem with warranty service but local reel repair guy said he could fix that from happening by changing a bushing over to a $5 ball bearing. Slowly converting over to Okuma Convectors.

I’ve got 8 of the older models like in my picture. Got a couple newer gray models, but jury still out on them, haven’t used enough to say. Some of my sealines are about 23 years old. Only problems I’ve had was twice an anti-reverse has gotten outta joint, both my fault hauling on the road with drag backed way off.
At one time I wanted to switch over to Shimano Tekotas, but just never could justify the price, as good as these have been to me.
