I watched a YouTube video about stuck ferrules. Seems like the fella sat down. Placed the rod behind his knees. Grasped the rod on either side of his knees with his hands. He used the force generated by his legs to slide the ferrules apart
Most all my fishing is for crappie, but I received an older musky rod as a gift from a departed friends family in his memory. It’s a 9 ft Pete Mania tournament series IM6 two piece. Thinking I might try it for catfish. The two rod sections don’t line up perfectly like they should. Not so bad that can’t fish like that , but it bugs me as it is. It is stuck to where I can’t budge it. I have always been able to correct this problem in past situations, but not this one. I am hoping that my departed friend didn’t super glue it and didn’t get it where it needed to be fast enough. Any ideas will be appreciated.

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
A little warmth may loosen things up. If it is glued you should see signs of it built up at the ferrule

I would try cold. I had a JDM rod get stuck together on my last fishing trip. It was foggy, colder and humid in the morning when I launched and put the rod together. 10 hours later the temps had changed by about 30 degrees, when I went to take it apart it wouldn't budge. It rode in the cab of the truck with me for the 45 minute ride home with the AC cranked to MAX. Pulled in the garage and give it another try. It was still tight but as soon as it moved a tiny bit I knew it would come apart then.
Another option I had thought about while driving home was to try getting some isopropyl alcohol to wick into the joint as a type of lubricant. I was reluctant to try an oily chemical to start.
Acetone/nail polish remover will remove super glue. Use it when reflecthing arrows to get the residue off the shaft.
Could it possibly be rusted in place, internally ?? Have you tried WD-40 or other penetrating oils ??
