I haven’t read any comments yet but I’m posting anyway. Your boat is too small and your motor too small to get comfortable on the deep water of Kentucky lake. I got caught in three to four foot waves and had to come south thru Eggner Ferry bridge in my 16 1/2 foot Lund deep vee with a 90 hp and was scared nearly to death and my boat is built for the deep waters. Sure, they’ll be days when even a kayak can go out there but the weather changes so quickly there, I’d hate seeing you get caught out there. Stay safe and fish smart.

Thats when you throw a sea anchor out and tie it off on the bow.

I used to surf a Pellican 10 foot sit in kayak in some really large waves in fall when the wind was pushing up big rollers. Fun times for sure.

The mouth of Jonathan Creek is the worst place on Ky Lake to be if a storm rolls in or the wind changes unexpectedly. The north/south waves stack up with the east/west. I run a 23’ Storm Cat with 250 Suzuki and I avoid that area at all costs in questionable weather. I’ve had my butt soaked dozens of times there in waves up to 6 footers. Stable, calm weather it’s a great area.

Believe me, not all crappie leave the bays and head to the river ledges. If I was you I’d get the gps out and trailer to some of the LBL bays and south to Blood River. There are plenty of ramp options and great populations of crappie that will never see the main lake.

I have a 1436 flatbottom jon boat. It has seen some crazy waves that frankly, I shouldn’t have had it out in. As other have stated, lakes can get huge waves from wind and where I’m at, from wakesurfing boats in the summer. Make sure to turn into the wave, or it might flip you. I’d say go where you’re comfortable and don’t push your luck. I have submarined a time or two and it was scary!! God was watching over me. These days, try to be more careful. Older and wiser but still have the trusty Minnow. Boat has been in my family over 40 years!! Good luck, be safe and wear PFD on crazy conditions

been out in a sea of waves in little rigs many times in my life , pretty dangerous for sure , don't do it now , but did when I was younger and thunk I was invincible ....
wisdom trumps bravery in some cases , maybe stay where you feel like you can handle it , don't know that lake ,but big lakes can be really bad stuff when the wind kicks up and or the wake boats go by ....
pretty tough to ketch crappie in a sea of waves anyway , just saying ....
