I use 10 lb .fluorescence mono line so I can see where the lines are. Any decent 7-8 ft medium action rod will work. Some use longer rods to keep line a little further apart. Use assortment of different depth running crankbaits. Find the fish and the depth they are at and then put the correct cranks on. Color varies day to day. Water clarity, sunny or overcast skies. I pull 4 off the rear of my boat. Need decent rod holders. Usually troll from 1.5 to 1.8 mph. 60 to 100 ftof line out depending on how deep I am needing to go. There are some apps out there that will tell you how many feet of line for the depth you want. I don’t really use them . I just put different amount of line out and colors of cranks till I get dialed in on what they want. Line type and size will effect how deep the cranks will go plus speed of trolling. I went this past Wednesday. All fish were 15-20 ft deep. So with that info you want to be a just above the 15 ft mark. We caught around 50or so. Only kept about 18. Hope That helps. Good luck
