    Default The Back When

MAN I miss that spot , my wife and I used to be the only people to pitch jigs in there ...
my avatar fish came from there and to be sure several others in that size range ....
this one wasn't near that size ,but still a nice summertime bank fish for sure ....
sadly the land sold and my bud who leased it to me passed away and it is what it is ,,,,,back to being a long forgotten ag pond out in the middle of nowhere ....
there were times you could hit it hard and never ketch a single crappie and swear they were gone ....
other times you could visit and hammer them on a spinner bait ....
my wife and I watched them hammer grasshoppers off the surface one year
    and now it's just a memory ....
a good one though no doubt .....
now its no more KABOOM in there for us ....

Nice slab. Sadly many good ponds and spots are being lost. Lots of farm land being turned into developments near me.

Nice slab. Sadly the countries farmland is being developed at an alarming rate.

Note the blood trickling down my forehead, mesquite trees don't make much shade and have big giant spikes on them that are mildly poisonous, some shade comes at a price you know

Lost too many of my favorite fishing holes to development. Several got drained & built over. A couple got choked with sediment from construction. What used to be an awesome, seldom fished cow pond with plenty of quality fish, is now a shallow, weed choked mudhole surrounded by apartments.

Gotta apprecioate the KABOOM when you get it.

our current trend in the metro mess area has been going on for a good while , they drained lots of swamps and filled them back in with dirt and built expensive homes around the ponds that were in them from way back when .
some of those areas were just jungles and really tough spots to get to and thus the ketchn of fish was just marvelous in them. now many of them are private and they are building more of them as I type this , folks that have access to some of them still ketch really nice fish from them . if you ever get invited to an HOA pond or lake ,it is likely it will be a pretty darn good to visit it.
