I use both. I like hair because they last longer since the body remains intact vs a plastic body will wear out sooner and spin on the hook. If I have the current fish favorite color I choose hair.

I like them both. I could be wrong but I think you can get a bigger variety of colors with plastic. But I don't know if we really need that much variety. I tend to believe it is more about presentation. But I do agree on the durability issue.

I use both and both work good. There are times one works better than the other for me. Love my hand tied jigs.

I used to use mostly plastic but was asked to try hand ties . These takeum hand ties hold up several trips if I don't break them off .

Not many jigs last long enough for me to get attached to them , a few hair/ feathers made some pretty remarkable numbers before they left my line though, some plastics will last though , not all plastics or feather jigs are created equal

I started making my baits that the hooks are completely exposed out of baitplastics salt water hard & they hold up great. Of course the hook being exposed it doesn't hurt them in the least as far as hook ups go. So far I've done better on hair in cold water but i haven't gave them as much of a chance in warm water either.

I tested hand ties versus plastics and found them to be equal in catching ability. Trolling- each type caught half the fish. Not real sure that means anything important, just saying.
Maybe they will bite this one……

winter episodes sometimes need the addition of a handtie , but then again not always , its a toss as to what might be the ticket in lots of cases , it sure is hard to beat dropping a beautiful handmade feather jig though ....confidence factor you know
