    Default Garmin Cradle Lock

Recently I have read about some tragic events happening with Garmin screens coming out of their cradles while under way... My 102 is on a RAM mount, and each time i move i put the cover on the screen and lock it down on the boat floor.

Is there a way to lock the screen in the cradle? I've heard tale of some DIY ways to do it but haven't seen any images of it.

What do y'all do??? Thanks in advance!!

I think I've seen either Velcro straps or bungee cords wrapped around them before.

I have never had one come off, but I did this to make sure it doesn't happen.

You would think Garmin would put a lock on the mounts

I have 2 Echomap 106s and a Echomap 126 and I never had any problems with them coming out of the cradles.
The 9” Echomap were the ones that seemed to have a problem popping out of the cradle. Those units have a different cradle than mine and many times they would come loose if they weren’t snapped in properly. I never had a problem with the one I used to have but if I still had it I’d put these on it.

Hadn't heard about the 9" Echomap Garmin units coming loose from the cradle, and I have one. But, mine is mounted and when the unit comes out of the boat ... it comes mount & all. I ruined a DI unit I had, by plugging & unplugging it, which lead to broken pins.

If I hit a wave or something hard enough to jar this unit out of the cradle, a broken unit will be the least of my worries.
