Kast King XUL spinning reel 131 grams

For those who have XUL spinning rods < 2 oz, Kast King just came out with
the kestrel 1000, weighing in at 4.6 oz. Price around $100 and smooth carbon fiber drag, lightest 1000 made presently. Paired with a 31 gram 5’6”
matagi rod + 131 gram reel = 162 grams.

I just bought a couple of the KastKing Summer 500 reels. They are small for longlining but should be perfect for clients casting.

That rod takes me back to the late 70s and early 80s when my weapon of choice was a 4 1/2' Billy Westmorland ultra-light action rod with rings, no reel seat.

Spooled with 4 pound mono, I caught and released a 30+" musky from Ledbetter Creek on KY Lake. The only musky I have ever heard of caught on KY Lake.
