I would use a 2000-2500 series reel.
What size reel would you use with a 9 to 10 foot rod using 15 lb braid main line & 10lb leader? I'm thinking 3000 but wondered what everybody else uses.
I would use a 2000-2500 series reel.
It would be the weight of the reel and how heavy the rod is and where the reel seat is located that would help complete the equation sir …

I always prefer the 2000-2500 sizes. Good balance especially on my casting set ups. Plenty of reel for long poles too.
CATCH A BIG-UN
Actually, i can't remember for sure but it's a fixed reel seat steelhead spinning rod. I was going to use it for a float n fly rod for smallmouth & thought about giving it a try for crappie.
I fish 11-12ft rods built off steelhead blanks and like 2500 series spinning reels. I have tried balancing long rods in past and don’t like the way they feel, it makes the whole set up very heavy mass wise and less sensitive to truly balance a long rod.
2018 Crappie Masters Kentucky/Tennessee State Champion
I use the small President on almost everything. I think its a 50 series.
Except the ACC 13 foot cross over. 2500 series on it as suggested by them. The entire outfit is too heavy for me and hardly use it.
