We noticed this guy swimming across Jonathan Creek on KY Lake early this morning. He was 1/2 way across the 1/2 mile plus wide bay, swimming from north to south. I didn’t see him at first until I was almost past him. I told my client I would pick him up if he was still chugging along when we circled back around.

I spotted he/she as we came back around and scooped it up in the net. He/she rode with us for the 1/2 hour it took us to make our way to near the south bank. I got several feet from the bank and eased it back into the water. It took off like Michael Phelps and crawled up the bank.

I’m the guy who has been known to stop and move a terrapin/ box turtle from the middle of the road to the side. This was the first time I’ve ever seen one swimming the lake. I have to assume it now resides on the side of the bay it wanted to.

I'll stop on the road and help out a turtle as well.....unless it's a snapper then he's on his own.
Foul tempered, they can be, them snappers.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

They are fearless and they are wired to be killers. That is one animal that looks as bad as it is.

Never hurts to help out. This winter I came up on a coon swimming across a fairly narrow canal. I felt sorry for it. But not enough the wish to abandon ship when that critter came on board and assumed command.

We stop and get box turtles out of the road too. I am devastated when I hit one with the bush hog.

Good job buddy. Been helping turtles cross roads for decades. Even taught my daughter whom still does it as an adult. Thanks for sharing

Wife and I were on one of our back road adventures a couple of weeks ago when my wife spotted a box turtle in the road and yelled Stop!
I barely did, it was only inches from the right front tire. She got out and moved him to the side he was headed.

You turtle lovers need to come by and clean out around our place. We have more than plenty of bait thieves that hang out here.
