    Default The Stick

I have a medium 7 foot 2 pc. Berkley Cherrywood HD , is it a heavy rod you might ask with a long cork handle , yes pretty much so compared to other crappie "sticks" . Is it just for crappie you might ask , no clue would be my answer .
It has been in my arsenal for a long time and the Berkley emblem is half gone . I carry it when I need a rod that can handle slinging larger fish and will still fit in a small area for travel . It has an old Shimano on it at this time and 8 lb Vicious clear mono .
Complete with metal eyelets and no ceramic inserts and pretty much just a beast of a rod if you want to man handle fish . Now mind you I hear backbone this and sensitivity that and on and on about other "sticks" , but to be sure it gets the job done well in many situations .
Not pricey was the rod and the reel and are likely in the 50 range as a combo and true work horse quality stuff . So keep in mind this about that , you don't have to spend large dollars to sling lots of crappie .
This particular specimen has seen multiple thousands of crappie in it's hanging around with me over the years and to be very sure of this .......
It will still hold it's own against the high end 7 footers in a race to see who slings the bestest .....
    KABOOM is the word ya"ll

I don't have any cheery wood rods left (my boat feet take out one or two a year)but I have a lot of Shimano quick fire AX and FX models reels yet,I really like the quick fire reels.

Nice, Ketchn. It is still doing the job after many years of action and abuse!

A true stick my friend is something you can use as a multi purpose item . In my right hand it becomes a nice switch on anything I deem needing a switching ......
Ketchn sticks often get used to smack whatever needs smacking , used to collect bait fish with my rods when I was younger fella , you can stun multiple baitfish if you hit the school with a stiff stick ....

I have 4 casting and 2 spinning for pulling planer boards. They were a cost effective option at the time

I have a 6 footer I have had for many years and ketch lots of fish of all kinds with and loved it. Then saw a real steal online for a 8 footer medium action and it really does well for everything when your thinking they will run bigger. paired with a decent reel it sure is a cost effective tool for our trade.
Thanks Ketchn thanked you for this post
