I do not know about their longer rods, but on their short rods ACC has some recommendations as to which reels balance well on them

I've found it pretty hard to balance anything longer than 11' in the provided mid reel seats. I grab the lightest reel I can find and tape wrap it in the location that feels best to me. It's usually withing a couple of inches of the butt of the rod. Rear seat rods get much closer than mid-seat rods. As for which reel, I'm no help as I prefer spinning reels for long rods.

I only used bait casters when spider riggin or pullin cranks.. they come in super handy when your fishin alone..i can crank then in and them hit the thumb bar and let line out with my thumb when needed to land a fish...Probably fixin to sell or past down all of my crankin/pullin gear as i have fallen in love with dock shootin...

If you are talking about balancing for comfort, I would use some sinkers tied to the rod receiver to determine the approximate weight that felt comfortable with the rod. Then you can compare the weight of some of the reels in attempt to match up. You could always add weight to the rear of the rod or reel also.

That’s probably what I’ll do. I have lead in chair caps on a couple of my heaviest bass combos & it made a huge difference. Thanks

I found an old diawa excellor that i forgot about having & never used so i pulled some of the old copolymer off of it & added some 15lb. hi-viz Diawa J braid. I'll be ready when i get the rod.
