    Lightbulb Tuxdaddy ...

If shorebound ... you might consider using a battery operated lantern for light. Not very big/heavy, and works to draw minnows + see your lines or floats. Most are gonna throw light 360deg ... so take some alum foil and tape it around all but one wide side of the light. Point that side towards the water. You'll still get some residual light on shore, but maybe not enough to draw bugs to you. Some bug repellant should help keep off most of the biting kind. A small flashlight will probably come in handy for seeing your way around on the bank, baiting up, retying, etc.

While minnows will work just fine ... I wouldn't pass up a chance to sling a jig at 'em, either. Maybe do both at the same time, and see which one produces best. Of course, you do realize ... as soon as you cast a jig - one of your floats is gonna disappear :p

If you are using live bait buy the little bobber lightsticks to put on top of your bobber. They sell clamp on kinds so you can use them on slip bobbers without taking the rig apart. They work really well and last for a few hours.

I think they're refering to those big slip floats and they come in lengths of about 6" to a foot. most are weighted on the end.
