I use both beetle spins and RR for a search bait on waters that I am not familiar with. Once I catch a crappie, I'll quickly mark the spot and turn around and fish the area slowly with a slip bobber and minnow or my drop shot rig while looking at the electronics to see whether or what kind of structure is there.
I actually prefer BS over RR.
What part of Ohio are you from? I'm NEO.

road runners are tricky to use properly , they must run slow or they corkscrew around .
beetle spins are easy to use , but don't do much for me on crappie most of the time .
search and destroy for spring run crappie in my opinion is best done with a float and a jig , just saying
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales

I see you are from SWO from the Armco Lake being your home lake. I only fished Isabella and Caesar Creek down your way when visiting customers in your area.
