    Default Pond cleaning adventures

I was enlisted as you might know to help reduce some overpopulated private crappie waters. At 1,000 removed crappie it has had not much effect so far . I am hoping I can get that number to 2,000 in one year and the race is on.
with it being just over an hour away and gas prices past stupid a good bit, it is costly to make the run out there.
The fish in these lakes and ponds are not the best winter fish I have run into, but you can pretty much always get a few bites.
hit it yesterday as a combination visit, some of it was business and some play. abundant deer in those parts make for good entertainment coupled with a fish in hand. Kept 30 to bring back home to the less fortunate fish eaters in the area I live.
went tandem jigs a bit for fun and even managed to ketch one double! a few small bass and bluegill played along and got set free.
about 3 to 4 foot under a float was the best bite and several fish were just on the jig when I went to move it . they bite really softly in the colder water there for whatever reason and can be pretty tricky to ketch.
it wont be long before they are sporting colors and acting all crazy in short water , this spring should be a show stopper out in those parts , the owner says in the spring you can throw a jig under a cork ANYWHERE on the large lake and ketch till you want to quit.
and yes in one photo you might notice a pretty nice rack on a dead deer on the shoreline .
saw him last week and he looked to be dead from a gore wound in his lower belly, this week the buzzards been busy on him ,so he aint so pretty right now .
11 point , with heavy mass and young . darn the bad luck for sure
thats my story for the day and i am sticking to it ,,,,

Good traveling with you as always, ketch! If that buck had 11 points he must have run into (maybe literally!) the big capo of the herd!

It would seem obvious to me sir that you are in dire need of some assistance in your pond cleaning project. I would be happy to offer my services in this matter. I live in Texas, my truck usually has enough gas and I think you would find my rates to be almost non-existent.

Great story Ketchn, I enjoyed the read. Too bad that buck is "flavoring up" the pond water.
