Upgraded to livescope a couple of years ago. It has caused me to alter several methods of catching crappie. As I have gotten better at using the technology the catching has increased. However, crappie do not automatically jump in the boat when they see or hear the LS transduce (many times they swim off). One of the advantages for me has been not fishing water with no fish. LS has improved my ability to find fish but just finding them does not mean they will bite. I still have to adjust color, presentation, etc. Sometimes the adjustments work other times not so much. I view LS as another tool in the toolbox, expensive yes but everything we use (boat, motor, rods, reel, etc.) cost more these days. Good discussion and this is just my .
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!

In the end, it will boil down to the individual. Just because you CAN take a limit every time due to the electronics, doesn't mean you HAVE to. Some will abuse it, like happens in all aspects of our lives. Some will cherry pick "only the big slabs" and toss back the more abundant "eaters".

None of us can control anything beyond our own moral compass.

Nor do I see the Fish and Game boards regulating the equipment; only the harvest limits and the sizes that can be taken. And even if they do adjust those, people will abuse it.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

On another note, I believe some guys are starting to pull off their spider rigging equipment because they can zero in on fish with one pole and livescope now. It's just not needed any longer.
I did, sold all my long rods for spider rigging and long lining rods, rod holders, minnow buckets, most of my jigs etc. when l got Garmin live scope when it came out.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

Wouldn't make me happy but sure is possible.
Practically here already. Trolling motors can be told to run a course, follow a contour line, etc. Not far from what it would take to have the boat fish for you. A camera drone can be programmed to fly by a certain route and video along the way. Those electronic fit inside a package that can be lifted with 4 small motors and powered by a small lipo battery. The technology is certainly there. Demand for it would bring it to pass.

Yep! Was fishing with 33 jigs/minnows more of a fair chase?

I've never seen a spider-rig - maybe because I've lived in Minnesota since 1974 and it's an illegal technique here.

From Mo Dept. of Conservation website.

    Number of poles and hooks
If you use more than three poles (or two poles on the Mississippi River) at any one time, the additional poles must be labeled with your full name and address or Conservation Number. Regardless of the method or number of poles, you may not use more than a total of 33 hooks at any one time; except on the Mississippi River the maximum is 50 hooks at one time. If fishing on the Mississippi River and on other Missouri waters at the same time, no more than 50 hooks may be used and not more than 33 on waters other than the Mississippi.

That's insane - Minnesota inland open water season, you're allowed one rod/reel that has line in the water - ice fishing you can have two tip-ups...that's it.

Minnesota/Wisconsin border (St Croix and Mississippi Rivers) you can have two rods - that's it.
