I can’t comment on the Sam but I have the Trout Slayer Series, the predecessor to the TCB and with a Diawa Regal 1000 is one of my best rods, and I have a bunch to choose from. If you buy it and don’t like it, let me know. I’m going to be getting one before summer. Very light in the hand and enough backbone to control a good fish.

I have the TSS and the TCB rods with Phfluger 25 reels on them couldn't be happier. I have been kind of looking at the 1000 Diawa regal that been talked about here. It will happen sooner or later no big hurry tho as the 25s are nice on these rods.I have the Sams SS 7 ft rod too but I have not compared the two. I use the Sams mostly for crappie and the TSS for gills.

Darn, I can’t compare the two as well, but can tell you the TSS is crisp with nice back bone and for pans and crappie can’t be beat IMHO. Very sensitive tip and when you get down to the lower 2/3 it is not a noodle. I just bought the TCB and haven’t had a chance to christen it yet, but Alphahawk says they fish similar so that is what I expect. I plan on using it with small spoons and very tiny crank baits. I’m hoping that the Daiwa Legalis 1000s hit our shores soon as that is what I’m going to pair it with. Do not fling and sling with it.

I have the TSS version. Really like it a lot, crappie and gills. Had the Sam’s 7 ft, but sold it once got familiar with TSS. Nothing wrong with Sam’s 7. I just prefer the feel and performance of TSS. Believe I catch more fish. My 2 cents.

I have the tcb combo, and it's the only ultralight rod I use. I love it, great for bluegill, perch, bass, and trout.

nothing against the Heaton version but I recently grabbed one to possibly buy for a bud and put it back without even looking at the price .
way too soft to hammer with in my opinion , but if you are the lift lightly guy and want to go easy on the fish it might be your rod .
no clue on the TSS rod , never tried one or even held one .....who sells them btw?

TSS is out of production, Ketch. However, the TCB is sold by BnM and Trout Magnet. A nice rod for the money but in no way your cup o’ tea. Different strokes for everyone - I’m a go easy on the fish guy so I’m a fan. It is a real nice U/L rod.

yeppers got a cousin of one of them short versions , not my cup of tea at all , a decent bluegill can about break the darn thing .
it now rests peacefully in the garage with a few of my other misguided thoughts on what might be good tackle for me ....
