We might want to think about updating NOW instead of in the spring when everyone else finds out about this. I'm guessing that they may be hard to find. April will be here soon.

One of those important things you don’t think about as often as you should. Good post for the boat owners here on CCOM.

I wonder who among us actually did monthly inspection, maintenance and carried the records of these inspections in their boat. I looked at mine once or twice a year and that's about it. No records at all and no law enforcement ever asked me about it either when they did my boat inspection in the spring when they usually hang out at ramps.
The only thing the watercraft officers did was look at the gauge to make sure it was in the green range (fully charged) if they did that.
Regardless, the requirement for record keeping is being discontinued for recreational boats.

I certainly have not logged my inspections of mine. I do the same as Opie above and check it a few times a year - I would say quarterly, just like the ones I keep in the house.

One should also invert and shake their type A, B, C fire extinguishers quarterly to prevent the powder from settling and clumping.

When you need one it is always a right now situation. We keep two at my radio control flying field. You haven’t seen anything until you see a lipo battery go off in a plane. The foamy planes literally melt and the balsa ones good for roasting marshmallows. That said, we can limit any further damage.

I recently bought a box of four of them, good to have in the boat, kitchen, garage, and in the truck.
