I said that cause when I was a kid we’d plunder the change and stuff dropped after high school games. It was asphalt under those though.

I used to surf fish and would carry those shiny gold plastic toy doubloons with me. Metal detector people would make their way down the beach, and I would bury one with a penny underneath. Got lots of laughs. I also would tell friends with me my tales of ship wrecks and how people still find coins to this very day, and lay one on the sand and watch the show. As a very young kid my father had a neighbor that made metal detectors based on a design he found in Popular Mechanics. We went through the Manassass battlefield park and gathered buckets of stuff. Later that became illegal when the prices for that junk went sky high. Grandma lost her wedding ring in the yard, and my Dad found it for her using his device.
Maybe they will bite this one……

They can be fun. I enjoyed beach combing when I lived close to the Gulf. I have pulled some silver quarters and dimes from my front yard and a bushel of wheat pennies. I would enjoy hunting the gold coast of Florida. A man can never have enough of those plastic Mardi Gras coins

I’ve had a cheap one from radio shack forever. When we retired and bought this house, a real log cabin built in 1901. The builders daughter added 4 rooms, enclosed the front porch, and sided it in the 60’s. The original rooms still have the exposed 8-10” logs and original fireplace in the living room. Some of the windows are the old rippled glass. I’ve found everything from metal toys to .25-20 brass in the yard.
