Default chilly mornings and a chilly start as well

Nothing doing while I waited for my boat ride to show up , one bite and it was bass in 20 minutes .
got in the boat and ran to a spot that showed a few fish on the graph , 20 minutes passed and one tiny crappie ......
even went to a tandem set up , more baits maybe ...?
about an hour after daylight , it all became much clearer , these fish were all night feeding and resting at that moment in time ....
when i rolled up in the dark, the moon was a big as it ever was and the surface activity was beyond stupid .....
such was the start of my full moon episode without any mask .....
went with another combo that is a heavy set up and tied on a big ugly jig next ....
started long casting in a fan like direction up onto a flat from out in deep water and slow rolling my big ole ugly across the bottom ......
it was about to be a not so great excursion it seemed and then .....
KABOOM and it was ....net please , this is a big fish for sure .....
repeated the technique until I had to go off to work ...
used the net several times and for sure they were as tight to the bottom as they get .
conventional methods of crappie ketchn did not apply once again ....
left with 20 and 3 of them were in the really nice size range ....
AND one was a rare in that lake , FOOTBALL black crappie ....
KABOOM was me and is the word .

Those are some real nice bruisers, Ketch! I guess you’re right that crappie behavior down your way in the fall requires you to change your approach and lures.

it would be something like this in any spot that holds crappie sooner or later my friend
fall presentations are sometimes a duplicate of the spring versions here and elsewhere
it varies terribly here though from lake to lake and it pays to know the lake patterns on each lake
