Agreed. I would just say-"Man I'm new to this whole fishing thing, if I cast into you I can't help it!" Wash, rinse, repeat!!

This is what my wife would do when ocean fishing in Mississippi. She would cast into their line, tangling them. She then say, sorry, I don't cast so well, you really shouldn't fish this close to me. If they didn't take the hint and move, I would cut their line the second time she tangled them and toss their lure back to them.

That happened a lot on the fishing piers.
