Nice one, will look good with fries .
Was fishing the other day off the dock at a local reservoir with my youngest, hoping for some eating size bluegill and crappie. Middle of the day with a teeny tiny little yellow marabou crappie jig (less than a 64th of an ounce), tipped with maybe an 1/8th of a inch of dead nightcrawler. No bobber, working the edge of submerged weed bed (elodia?), when something latches on like a crappie. Set the hook and think "that ain't no crappie, or if it is, it's a whopper ". Turned out to be my PB ditch pickle. 21", 4.2lbs. Had my drag set too light and he managed to wrap me around some weeds on the bottom, so I did what my dad taught me and gave him some slack and sat down to wait for him to unwind himself. 10 or 15 minutes later he finally did, and as soon as I got him up to the dock, my boy just cool as a cucumber nets him like it was no big deal.

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Congrats on the PB!
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
Perfect size to release. Too big for the skillet. Maybe ok on the grill.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

cracks me up that so many say they don't like to eat bass. very good white fish meat and perfect filets actually in the size that many lakes/ponds have way too many of. took over a lake from a new wife few years back and they hadn't fished it for years and was LOADED with bass which were deformed and smallish but perfect for eating so my guys and I started ketching and eating them in big numbers till got lake in balance. delicious meals were had.
