Not interested in sand bass. I would like to see the fish around the boat when crappie fishing. I wish Livescope had a wider viewing angle or prespective worked deeper than 12'. If it would work down to 30' I would not need anything else.
It would be just my luck that I spent all the extra money for the mega 360 then Garmin upgraded prespective to work deeper.

EZ ... I did see one video where a guy had his Livescope tdx mounted "perspective" style and he had it on a separate mount (not TM shaft) and left a little "play" in the mount where he could rock it a little forwards/backwards and see deeper than the 10-12ft depths that it's intended for. But, like you say, with the 20Deg cone angle it's only going to show about 1/3 as wide a section of water as the depth (distance from tdx). And while it may show "something" at the 30+ft ranges, it's much better/clearer what you're looking at from 20ft out to back under the tdx (at least it has been for me, and I have mine in the forward/downward looking position ... not the Perspective View).
I use mine in the down imaging view most of the time as it provides both sides on the boat or front and one side, depending on how I point the transducer. I am not interested in 30 feet out, I am mainly interested in 10'-15' as I usually fish brush piles, laydowns, and bridge pillars.
I would have spent $1200 to try mega 360, i'm having problems convincing myself to spent $3000 for it. It's not that I really need it, given what I currently have mounted on the pontoon. It is just a "would be nice to have" at this point for me.

I believe the photo of the trolling motor/ livescope's is from Ronnie Capps/Steve Coleman's boat. If so, Ronnie has posted another photo on his facebook page on how they control the two transducers. These two guys think on a different level. Ronnie Capps - Home | Facebook. No wonder they have won as many tournaments as they have. The bar gets raised higher and the cost goes up.

This is true if you fish tournaments. I read last year where some of the tournament fishermen were using two LiveScope systems on the front of their boat. But for the rest of us, the cost only goes as high as we want it to go, since we really don't need more than a simple low cost boat and fish finder to catch crappie while on the lake. If we want to fish the banks we don't need to even spend that much money.

You are correct. That is what makes fishing so special. You can participate at what ever level you choose. I've been around the block. From many hours as the kid that rode his bike to the nearest water to low level competitive fishing. Crappie, bass, walleye, muskie, carp (yea carp). As the years pile up, I find myself gravitating back to the kid on the bike. The thrill of watching that bobber slowly disappear is something you don't forget. I don't regret the competitive fishing. I used that as a learning experience as I don't think I have a competitive bone in my body. You all fish the same water for the same time. The BS stops at the weigh-in. Maybe you had a great day and really caught them. Maybe not. There is value-able info to learned at the inevitable session after the tournament.

I've just about decided to trade in my current Solix 15 on a g2 solix 15 and a mega 360. The cheap side of me says no to spending that much money on a new toy, especially give how much I have already spent on fish finders over the last two years. But my daughter reminded me I should enjoy what the money will buy now as I can't take it with me.
