I had my left knee done this past October. I'm walking 2 or 3 miles on a regular basis now. Knee replacement was more difficult than my hip which was done earlier last year. My knee was painful for 3 or 4 weeks then it seemed to quickly start getting better. I had home base PT for about 3 weeks then just did it on my own. Keep your knee elevated and iced. Take the pain pills as instructed. If you try to stop them too quick, the pain will be harder to stop. Do the PT but make sure you let them know if it's hurting too bad. It's going to hurt but it's not supposed to be terrible pain. Best of luck to you.

Glad you told him about the pain pills. Pay attention CP. My neighbor had partial on both knees at same time last year. He thought he was young enough and tuff enough he could do it without them. NOPE, and when he told Dr got him a chewing. Then when he did start them back they made him sick. Took him about 8 weeks to get going good. He is doing great now though.

Having had a knee replacement myself three years ago, all I can say is...DO THE THERAPY!!!!! and control the "discomfort" with ice. Ice should be your new best friend for a while. Did I mention to do your therapy???? DO THE Therapy! It makes all the difference and don't get discouraged. Knee replacement was the best thing I ever did for myself. Just took a little while to realize it. I am already considering another one for the other leg. This time I won't wait so long. Good luck!!!
