As long as the numbers can be seen on mine I'm good to go. My main one is screwed down to my deck but I have one that isn't that is usually in my console livewell so slime doen't have a chance to build up. If I was inclined to clean mine it would be with "Awesome" cleaner.

I brag about fish slime and it's welcome on my dinky tin fishin boat, after filleting on my boat I rinse the cutting board in the lake and the fish and turtles chow on the guts.
