Good video, You'll have to do a new one when you get that Ulterra. Greatest thing ever for fishing solo.
I expected lots of folks here would launch this way on ramps that aren't steep. I don't unhook my boat on steep ramps until the trailer tires are wet. The idea for this video came from all the folks who approached me at ramps and said they had never seen launching done like that or it appeared I had launched like that several times before. Folks here are much more die-hard fishermen than the average fishermen many of us deal with on a regular basis.

A lot of people too, don't know the proper way to line up the vehicle and trailer to back it in, and is another reason why it takes them so long to toad and unload. Glad I had an uncle, who was also a truck driver, teach me, when I first started fishing with him. Also taught me all the correct things of operating a boat.
Another idea would be how deep or shallow to back the trailer in to load the boat up (although each boat is a little different). We watched the ramp for 30 minutes last night as the holiday crowd thinned out and there were several folks weaving and bobbing into other lanes because they had their trailers in too deep and the boat was not making contact with the bunks or guide-ons. I see a lot of folks backing their trailers in way too deep and it gives them a hard time aligning their boat on the trailer. I always err on the side of being a bit too shallow than too deep on new ramps.

If it wasn't mentioned, floating rope with a bit of stretch seems to be the perfect one for doing it this way. I like it to stretch a bit so it doesn't rebound as hard when it becomes taught as you pull it towards the ramp.
Yes they are, but I could have done a video Saturday about what you have to do when your Ulterra doesn't deploy when you back it off the boat. One of my rod handles had gotten over the power cord to the Ulterra. They are so sensitive when deploying and stowing, so as to not damage the unit, that it wouldn't lift the rod and kept making a motor error. I tried to deploy it probably 20 times. Each time the rod slipped a little further away from the unit and I just knew that it would finally fall off the cords but it didn't. Luckily for me the wind was blowing towards the ramp, so I just had to wait about 15 minutes on the boat to drift to the ramp.

That's how I do it except I tie the rope to the end of the side bunk on trailer. In and out of the water in no time. Thanks for the video.

There will always be folks that are inexperienced at the ramps, as well as those folks that seem to want to mess with everyone else's time. Happens every day, every year. Yes it frustrates us that know what we are doing and want to not waist valuable fishing time. But we have to take a deep breath and remember, we were at this stage at one time too. May have been many years ago, but we all had that first year or two when we were in others way. Eventually, ( if they really care ), they will get thier collective acts togetherand get better at the ramp. Just a thought or two on the subject this morning...I hope everyone has a great day today.
