I guess I don't know what I am doing then cause I get wind knots, and I cut myself on the line too. The cuts is one reason I refuse to use the super thin braided line (12lb test and below), that'll cut my hand just when I look at it! I'd rather use heavier test, heavier braid to prevent exactly that, the cuts. I can't help it, if I got a big fish close to the boat, I may just grab the line to sling it in. It just all depends. And I'm not exactly using the cheap stuff now. I'd rather not mention the brands because they are actually OK, but with time they seem to turn limp and then I get wind knots galore. And because I'd rather not badmouth potential sponsors! lol

Anyway, I don't mind the little wind knots cause I can use them as a line counter kinda! lol I remember I caught that last one when I have the line just so far back behind the boat where that knot touched the water! lol

Anyway, everyone has different experiences, and everyone has different preferences. And that's what we are on here to share, thank you all for your opinions. I ordered a couple varieties based on the suggestions here and so I'll see and share what I find. My opinion. Thanks for listening.

I use spider wire steath and power pro. The only other braid I have ever tried was fire line and I was not crazy about it. I tried the regular and the crystal just was not crazy about it.

I use braid on my casting and dock shooting rods and have been through several kinds. So far I like the new Berkeley nano the best.

Regardless of the brand name, I wrap my hand with a towel before wrapping braid around that to keep from being cut because that stuff will go all the way to the bone if you let it.

I keep a 6" piece of 2X2 wood to wrap the line around before I pull a hang up lose. I drilled a hole in the end, put a piece of cord in a loop so I could hang it on one of my rod holders where I can get to it easy.

There's always about a 3" piece of oak dowel, just a scrap, rolling around my boat for the same reason.

I usually just wrap the line around the handles of my pliers - although the braid is tough enough that it can cut through the plastic coating

Which is EXACTLY why I recommend braid users NOT wrap the line around the cork or foam handles of their rods to pull a snagged lure free, let alone wrapping it around a bare hand !!

Bill Dance said their is no one line for all types of fishing,Skinny water,/Deep.Am blessed to live in a State that has all types of Water skinny dirty water to clear spring river's.We have been blessed to fish with a lot of different folks. From first timer's to Pro's.That being said the best fishing line, the easiest to spool on and use right off the Spool . We use Berkley Nano-fill 8-10 lb test, clear mist. is not mono, not braid in between.Don't take our word, not trying to sell.Check the reviews.Check it out at your local tackle shop.Took some kid's that had "never "fished, spooled them up nano-fill on spinning reel's "asking for trouble"Shimano's",small crappie jig's. No tangles.Just fishing and catching.Try taking a couple kid's with regular mono!!!!"Trouble" am I sold on nano fill!! Cabelas has came out with their on nano fill a little higher priced. But pretty good line
