That is all going to depend on where you are planning on mounting the unit. I like di on trolling motor and have si at the console
I am posting here to hopefully get more responses. I have the choice, as the money is the same, of either a DI with GPS depth finder with a 7 in screen or a SI ( which also has DI) w/GPS on a 5 in screen. So my question is which, to you, is more imprtant, Side imaging or a bigger screen . And BTW i am primarily fishing dirty water on the TN river waterway.
Thanks for any help
I chose bigger screen myself in a similar situation. I like SI but I am not very often actively trying to locate new things to fish, I know what it is I am fishing so I just need to get on it and see if there are fish there.

SI is good for seeing stuff to the side of the boat...
DI is good for seeing stuff under the boat ...
Your fishing style may help make that decision for you ...

The bigger screen for sure. Especially for mapping/sonar side by side.
Wait and buy both ( larger screen with side image )
When on the water, I use 2D and GPS for waypoints most of the time. I use SI to make recordings on a SD card and view later on my desk top using viewing software. I can examine the recorded views much better, find structures and brush, and create waypoints then download them into my unit for the next trip out. This is how I find most of the brush piles and structures I fish. I usually make 3 or 4 recordings every trip, especially if it's a new area for me. I have an 11" on the console and 9" up front. Bigger screen is better for old eyes!! Very seldom view SI on 9" screen.
