Am I missing something or am I just not that good with boat control?
You can also use the wind and drift with it. I have a Terrova with I Pilot and I adjust the nose of the boat as needed so stay sideways. Those Perch I posted were caught in this manner using the Dropshot

I've been drop shotting some from the bank this year and have had success but, I basically tye on my jighead (1/32 oz) with loop knot and it usually has a 2 or 3" tag end... should I switch to a reg hook and sinch it tight to the main line? I hadn't ever done this before this year so I'm new to it all.

I prefer my hooks tied on a two inch tag end,A bit unconventional, but I have started using soft floating jigs tipped with a variety of tidbits.I find I have little to no tangles, and for myself,I get better hook ups.Try several styles, like anything the one you are confident in will be the one you catch fish on.

    hi.
myself, i would go with aberdeen hook and cinch it tight to the line with a palomar knot. small soft plastics have a great horizontal presentation/action then.
