I believe it is only a 13 inch fish. If you stipulate that the finger from middle knuckle to tip is about 2 to 2.25 inches there are 6 of those lengths on the fish. That puts it 12 to 13.5 inches in length. He is holding that fish 18 to 24 inches closer to the camera than his body.

Looks real to me...look at how big his hands look in relation to the fish and to his body. It's all about how close to the lens the fish is held. It is a nice fish though.
