I have personally used white lights and green lights. Only difference I have experienced is that the green light puts out a more soothing view in the water. In other words, the green light does not put a lot of stress on your eyes at night. Not that big of a deal because the light is usually in the water under my boat anyways. Important thing in my experience is that both color attracts bugs = minnows/shad = crappie. Also works for stripper bass in lakes. Best time to use these lights are on overcast nights. No moon = no light. This means the fishes only choice to feed is near your light. Here is a picture of my set up that I have used for the past 4 years. 2.5' LED crappie light from Bass Pro with a battery clip from Auto Zone. Works great!
