I have personally used white lights and green lights. Only difference I have experienced is that the green light puts out a more soothing view in the water. In other words, the green light does not put a lot of stress on your eyes at night. Not that big of a deal because the light is usually in the water under my boat anyways. Important thing in my experience is that both color attracts bugs = minnows/shad = crappie. Also works for stripper bass in lakes. Best time to use these lights are on overcast nights. No moon = no light. This means the fishes only choice to feed is near your light. Here is a picture of my set up that I have used for the past 4 years. 2.5' LED crappie light from Bass Pro with a battery clip from Auto Zone. Works great! Name: photo (4).JPG

If it is the standard cigarette lighter plug you can just cut the wires at the plug then split them and attach to battery straight or attach clips and clip to battery. One postive and one negative wire.
