People talk about using camo line and fish see this or that. I feel like I catch more fish detecting line movement with the hi viz than you miss due to spooking them. Now I fish stained water to muddy water. We don't have clear in my neck of the woods. The reason I use the braid on my jigs is feel but also to get them out of the thick stuff. Whether hung up or pulling a fish I don't loose many jigs since moving to the braid.

Do you people use a mono leader and a swivel with braid, or just tie the jig/hook right to the braid?

What little "jigging" I do ... I do with PowerPro 10/2 hi-vis braid. But, I'm also using it on a 7' rod, and not a "real" jigging rod.

And I've heard people complain about braid "tip wrapping" when jigging ... and I don't have that problem. I have to assume that they're using a light jig, and the quick up/down jigging motion of the long rod tip is allowing the line to back up in the tip eye & then loop over the end of the rod tip. I'm thinking I don't have that problem, simply because when I'm "jigging" with my braid outfit, I have a splitshot sinker about 8-10" up the line from the jig ... and that keeps the line pulled down in the tip eye, more than a single 1/32 or 1/16oz jig would do by itself.

It also greatly enhances the feel of the "thump" (having the sinker on) ... whereas I'd have to be watching the line more closely, if I were using a jig by itself. At least, for me ... that's the way it seems to work.

I'll give the braid a try on my crappie rig's. I've used it a long time on my light tackle grouper rig, but with a mono leader. I have a nice Shimano combo one of my suppliers gave me that has braid on it. I like it because of the strength, no stretch; and you feel everything. Just never given it any thought to use it on my crappie rig's.
    Thank you, Sir

8 or 10 lb fireline crystal on everthing, jigging, crank in and spiderrigging, I may be wrong, I dont know because it seems likemost people use mono, maybe a cost thing but I got my fireline cheap. I dont lose riggs very often usually will straighten the hook first

I use braid with a fluro leader when deepwater fishing. I use hi-viz mono for shallow fishing. I purchased some nanofil line on clearance and will try it this year. Braid is a no-brainer for deep water fishing due to being able to fill a fish breathing on your jig.
